Spoken Language Understanding: Recent Advances and New Frontiers

Abstract

This tutorial introduces a comprehensive and comparative review on spoken language understanding (SLU), which aims to extract semantic constituents from the natural language utterances in task-oriented dialogue system that serves as a major goal of artiﬁcial intelligence. The discussion covers the scope of background, development, inﬂuence, datasets, new taxonomy for state-of-the-art techniques, recent trends and challenges.
